Basic Skills

1) Reverse walking

Walk backwards in front of the swimmer.

Walk by leaning back, with placing your weight on your lower back.

Relax your arms and place them right underneath the water surface.

You can move faster by lowering your body and leaning back.

2) Towing

You can make corrections easier with momentum created by lightly pulling the swimmer.

When you pull the swimmer, hold his wrists lightly.

When you pull the head, support it with your fingertips.

Pull his head while correcting its position.

When switching, quickly and gently pull his other wrist.

3) Supporting

When you support the swimmer, it is important to decide beforehand how and when you support his motion.

Support his motion so that he understands the correct positions and motions.

Also, support his arm in the water in order to stabilize his motion.

4) Pushing

You can create momentum and stabilize his position by pushing him from behind.

This is especially important when practicing drills without kicking.

5) Correcting Kicks

When correcting kicks, support his knees with your fingers on his kneecaps and your thumbs on the back of his knees.

Check to see if he bends and extends his knees correctly when kicking by placing your thumbs on the back of his knees.

In Skate with kicking, support him to kick at an angle.
