9-1. Cruising Gear
Usually, you will swim using the cruising gear.
Use a faster tempo than relaxed swimming.
Coordinate the switch timing with the hand entry and pull.
Leverage the stroke movement to accelerate the movement of your extending arm.
Minimize the arm strain by using body rotation and your shoulder blades.
Keep the hand closer to the body when you stroke back, by bending your elbow at 90 degrees.
