The movement in which you bring your hand forward above the water surface is called recovery.

There are three phases necessary in order to acquire the skills for recovery.

The first phase is the initial movement, in which you pull out your hand from the water.

The second phase is the swing movement, where you move your hand forward above the water surface.

The last phase is to create the switch position.

Approach

In the beginning, you make the switch position stable so that you can memorize the last phase of recovery.

Then you control the swing movement.

Finally, you connect recovery with switch movement.
